The 28th Tama River Clasico will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 18:30 between Kawasaki Frontale and FC Tokyo in the 2nd stage of the 2016 Meiji Yasuda J1 League, at Todoroki Athletics Stadium.
This edition of the "Tama River Clasico" will be promoting the movie "Shin Godzilla", which will be released on July 29th (Fri). We will be conducting promotions as "Tama River Clajigo". We are playing away, but we kindly ask for your support for FC Tokyo at the stadium. Thank you very much!

□ What is the Tamagawa Classico...
Since the JFL era in 1997, both clubs have been honing each other as “good rivals” through intense matches and numerous dramatic developments. In particular, in 1999, the first year of J2, FC Tokyo emerged from Tokyo Gas to join the J1 League, and both clubs fought fiercely for promotion, successfully elevating both to the J1 League. Kawasaki Frontale was relegated to J2 League after one year, but they were promoted again in 2005, and the fierce battles between the two clubs continue.
The history of fighting while enhancing each other in this land across the Tamagawa River shows excitement that rivals other cities' “derbies.” Moving forward, both clubs aim to cherish this history and establish this rivalry as a tradition, naming it “Tamagawa Classico” by combining the symbol that separates the two clubs, the “Tamagawa,” with the Spanish term for “traditional match,” which is “Classico.”
The name “Tamagawa Classico” started in 2007, but to honor the history of fierce battles between FC Tokyo and Kawasaki Frontale, it is counted as “Tamagawa Classico” from the battles in 1999, the first year of J2. There were a total of 10 matches from 1999 to 2006. In 2007, the project started, and the first match, held on “May 6, 2007,” was positioned as the “11th Tamagawa Classico” during Kawasaki Frontale's home game. Moving forward, both clubs will continue to strive to build history towards the 50th, 100th, 200th... matches.
※ Both clubs have agreed that only the "league matches" will be counted as the Tama River Clasico. (Matches in cup competitions, such as the Emperor's Cup, will not be counted.)
The current match record is 8 wins, 7 draws, and 12 losses in Tokyo.
