□ About Tokyo Metropolitan Government's "Easy Japanese"
"Easy Japanese" refers to simplified Japanese that is considerate and easy to understand for foreigners and others. The number of foreign residents in Tokyo is about 580,000 and is on the rise (as of January 2023), with increasing diversity in nationalities. To realize a multicultural symbiotic society where Japanese and foreigners live and thrive together in the community, it is important to utilize "Easy Japanese" as a means of communication that involves mutual understanding and cooperation. Moreover, "Easy Japanese" is expanding its use not only for foreigners but also as a highly effective tool for communication with children, the elderly, people with disabilities, and others, across various fields such as administrative information, daily life information, and daily news dissemination.
