Teikyo University was established in 1966 in Hachioji, Tokyo. Initially, it started with two faculties: the Faculty of Literature with the Departments of Japanese Literature and English Literature, and the Faculty of Economics with the Department of Economics, with a total of 200 students. Over time, it has expanded its possibilities as a place of learning. To cultivate individuals who can maximize their inherent personalities, acquire knowledge and skills, and act responsibly, the educational philosophy of "My Own Style" is promoted, with educational guidelines of "Practical Learning," "Internationality," and "Openness." In June 2016, it celebrated its 50th anniversary, with alumni active in various fields numbering around 150,000. Today, it has grown into a comprehensive university with five campuses in Itabashi, Hachioji, Utsunomiya, Fukuoka, and Kasumigaseki, offering 10 faculties, 32 departments, and 11 graduate schools, with approximately 23,000 enrolled students. The renewal of the Itabashi campus in 2012, the opening of the new Fukuoka campus in 2014, and the completion of the new building at the Hachioji campus in 2018 are all part of the ongoing development of an environment for a new era.
