Strong start to the season and patience in the second half
Facing forward while feeling a sense of frustration
DF 44 Henrique TREVISAN
Every person and player has a story. '2024 PLAYER’S REVIEW' introduces all the blue and red warriors who fought through the 2024 season, one by one. What thoughts did they carry as they went through the season? Confidence, a sense of achievement, challenges, joy, regret... Reflecting on this season's battles through the words of each player.
Henrique TREVISAN has become a stronghold of the final line with his aerial strength and speed. Supporting an aggressive team from the back, he has been active as a key defender this season, utilizing his innate abilities since the opening match. However, since June, he has been plagued by a series of injuries, leading to a long-term absence. What thoughts has he been holding onto while enduring these challenging days?
Henrique TREVISAN spoke with a gaze filled with sorrow.
"There are ups and downs in a long season."
In the third year since joining, this season started smoothly for both himself and the team from the opening match.
However, after injuring his left thigh in the match against Júbilo Iwata on June 16 during Sec. 18 of the Meiji Yasuda J1 League, he was sidelined for about two months. During that time, the team continued to struggle, and he said, "I felt a sense of disappointment and frustration."
"Not everyone wants to get injured. It's soccer, so it can't be helped. Even so, I just focused on recovering from the injury and building up day by day to return to the team."
Finally returned to the starting lineup in the match against Nagoya Grampus on Sec. 30 on September 14, but was substituted due to injury in that match. Once again forced to miss about 2 months.
"Looking back on this season, I think I was able to contribute to the team in the early part of the season with opportunities to play, and I felt a sense of achievement while playing. However, I suffered a major injury and had a long period where I couldn't participate in matches. It was tough to get injured again right after my return. I haven't been able to play much in the second half of the season. It required patience, but I believe it was a season where I kept aiming for a return to the game without giving up."
Still, the defender, who has reached his fourth year in Japan, has done everything he can. He has a past of collaborating with Ewerton Gaudino, who joined this summer, at Ponte Preta in Brazil's second division. They reunited far away from their home country in Japan, and he has been helping him both on and off the pitch by stepping up as a supporter.
I really love this country and I am truly happy to be able to play in Japan. The environment in Japan is wonderful, and it is very easy to work at this club, so I hope to continue playing in Japan in the future. There are certainly differences in language, customs, and culture compared to our country, just like I experienced. I have conveyed many good things about Japan to Ewerton and have given him advice. I still lack experience and confidence, but I have tried to help him in my own way.
Patience was also necessary. "There are good times and bad times. Still, the players just prepare to participate in the matches." Henrique, who has experienced ups and downs, swallowed a sigh and lifted his face.
"Because it's a club of this scale. I believe it's expected to be involved in the fight to take titles. Of course, I want to play in intense matches filled with passion. Such matches will surely engage the fans and supporters as well. It should create a great atmosphere. However, unfortunately, we haven't been able to have many of those games this season. All of us players want to play in those kinds of places. I want to continue to work hard so that I can perform well in such matches."
The shadow disappeared from that expression, and they were simply looking straight ahead.
