Tokyo traveled to the away ground of Fukuoka. In the last two matches, they have been unable to secure victory due to a lack of finishing ability, but their performance has definitely improved. In the 12th minute of the second half, a decisive sliding shot was taken in a scramble in front of the goal from the opponent's right corner kick, but Hashimoto cleared it just at the line. A fine play continuing from the first half saves the team.
In the 15th minute of the second half, Tokyo, wanting to change the flow, substituted Kei KOIZUMI for Shirai on the right side and Sato Eiin for Yamashita in the inside half. They changed the system to push Nakagawa to the front line.
Immediately after the substitution, Tawara Sekita created a chance with a dribbling breakthrough, and Koizumi received a through pass from Doi while holding the ball in a high position, returning it from the right side pocket, gradually creating good opportunities. Q, please provide an overall assessment for today.
A, Many fans and supporters came all the way to the away ground, but we were unable to earn any points, so I think it was a disappointing game. The quality of the game was also poor, as we were on the back foot throughout.
Q, especially in the second half, the opponent continued to hold possession of the ball. How did you analyze this situation?
A, regardless of it being the second half, the opponent held possession of the ball, so first, each player needed not just to drop back and defend, but to firmly close down where necessary. It wasn’t primarily about creating an organized structure; rather, it was important for each individual to perform well in one-on-one situations. When that shape started to disappear, we slightly adjusted our pressing style, but we couldn’t produce good performances. I believe at that point, it was necessary to boldly change the system or the formation.
Q, please tell us the intention behind the mid-game substitution of player Henrique TREVISAN.
A, regarding the use of Henrique, although he is originally a player who plays as a center back, one reason is that he is left-footed and has a high possibility of delivering simple, long vertical passes effectively when receiving the ball. Another reason is his strength in set pieces, so we brought him on expecting that he could demonstrate his abilities when the opportunity arose.

Q: It was a difficult match. What were you thinking on the pitch?
A, as the coach also mentioned, my impression is that it was a tough match. We couldn’t really control the game at our own pace, and in the final moment, we were caught off guard and conceded a goal. It was a frustrating game.
Q: What do you feel made the match difficult?
A: We struggled to deliver the ball forward in good conditions. There were few scenes where someone faced forward and made a move in a good situation, and I think there are various factors behind that. We need to improve on that. Unless we launch more threatening attacks against the opponent, we won’t get closer to scoring. We also had few shots, so we must increase those kinds of opportunities.
Q: Amid a series of matches where we couldn't score, it felt like the flow of this game was different from previous ones.
A, as we play more matches, the opponents also prepare countermeasures, and we prepare for their tactics as well, but sometimes things don’t go as we expected. In such situations, it comes down to how the players on the pitch adapt and find ways to overcome the challenges during the match. Regarding today’s game, we couldn’t simply get behind the defense easily, and it was a match that strongly confronted us with the challenge of figuring out what we need to do to launch even more threatening attacks.

A, I am frustrated. It was a very difficult match. Throughout the game, most of the time was spent enduring the opponent's attacks. I think this reflects the current strength of our team. Although my playing time was short, I tried to aim for a goal or a final pass leading to a goal. It didn’t go well, and I am very disappointed.
Q, it seemed like our defensive line was pushed back by the opponent's attacks.
A, we were on the defensive from the first half, and that continued into the second half. Considering the long season, there will be matches where we have to take a defensive stance. Even so, we must fight for the full 90 minutes to prevent conceding in the final moments, and whether we can bring back at least one point makes a big difference. I believe this is an area we need to work on.
Q, it seemed that the content of today's match was different from the previous matches.
A, since it is a sport with an opponent, they also analyze us. There are still many things we can improve on, such as how to break through when faced with a high press, how to carry the ball into the opponent's territory, and how to aim for the goal. I believe we need to work on this with a shared understanding as a team.
