2024 CAMP REPORT & INTERVIEW
vol.4 Kosuke SHIRAI

Okinawa Kunigami Camp also enters its 7th day. We have made some changes to the training schedule and spent most of the time adjusting our condition.

At the beginning of practice, the team split into sections for strength training and training using hurdles. Each player checked their own condition and made adjustments for the upcoming camp.

In the training that followed, we focused on passing and ball control, paying attention to the tempo of passing and attacking direction. We were required to have a quick tempo and accurate passing to connect with our teammates.

A mini game was held towards the end. Restrictions were placed on the attacking team, and they aimed for the goal by focusing on coordination between players and switching between offense and defense.

After the end of practice, we interviewed player number 99, Kosuke SHIRAI.

Q: Please review the game against FC Ryukyu that took place the other day.
A: Scoring a goal is definitely a positive, and I truly believe this season will be a decisive one. By producing clear results in numbers, I think it will lead to starting appearances, so I want to be particular about that and keep working hard.

Q, I think taking an offensive position led to the goal.
A, until now, I have often run up the side as a side back, but I think there were few scenes where I moved inside. By taking a position inside, I believe more goals and assists can be created, so I have a strong awareness of moving inside.

Q, the camp has started and one week has passed. How is the feeling?
A, since last season, I have been working on defensive aspects and creating attacks from the back of our own half. The defensive structure is different from the teams I have belonged to before, so I want to start by firmly organizing that within myself. Until now, I have often played as a side back in advanced positions, but I also want to be mindful of stability when playing in deeper positions while showcasing my strong points. I have good sharpness in my body, and in practice matches, I was able to sprint more than anyone else. My physical condition is good, and I think I have made a good start to the camp.

Q, How do you want to spend the remaining 10 days of camp leading up to the opening game?
A, I have been able to build good relationships with my teammates, so I want to value the camp period and make it a fulfilling time as a team.
