INTERVIEW 2024.1.20

2024 CAMP REPORT & INTERVIEW
vol.1 Masato MORISHIGE

The first training camp officially started today in Kunigami Village, Okinawa Prefecture, surrounded by a warm climate.

The team moved from Tokyo to Okinawa yesterday. They adjusted their condition with recovery training, taking into consideration the fatigue from the long distance travel. On the second day after a night's rest, they conducted second division training in preparation for the 2024 season.

In the morning training, we conducted about 90 minutes of passing control, possession, and match-style training. The players adjusted their own condition while confirming the cooperation as a team. In the afternoon, we conducted training in general non-public. We deepened the common understanding of tactics and the basic way of fighting as a team.

In addition, as it was the first day of practice on the field, many local people and fans/supporters came to watch the practice.

The camp has just begun, but from here on, the players will work together to increase their intensity and accuracy, and first of all, make the Okinawa Kunigami camp a fruitful time.

After the end of practice, an interview was conducted with player number 3, Masato MORISHIGE.

Q, Okinawa Kunigami Camp started today.
A, It’s only just the first day, and I’m looking forward to the camp life from here on. Since there are new players who have joined, as one of the players, I’m very excited about how we will build the team, but at the same time, I also feel a sense of urgency. This season, I am determined to achieve results both individually and as a team.

Q, Do you have any personal goals for this season's camp?
A, First, I am focused on completing the camp without injury, but I am also concentrating on pushing myself harder than last season and building up my body. I want to gain a lot from the training.

Q, The new season has officially started. What points are important to focus on again in order to power up the team?
A, I believe that FC Tokyo has various players this season as well, including those who can score goals and those who can create chances. As a team, we want to clarify our attacking style at a high level. We aim to clearly express our intentions and characteristics, focusing on precision and reproducibility in our play during actual matches.

Q, Earlier, there was also the word "preparedness," but how does the team view this camp as a whole?
A, In attack, it is necessary for the team to have a shared understanding of exactly which area to target. By doing so, I believe we can develop our attacks automatically, and it is also important to increase the number of repetitions starting from practice. Regarding defense, it depends on whether everyone can have a sense of sacrifice for the team in how to defend together and how to go after the ball. I want to play while balancing the parts each player needs to pursue thoroughly and the areas where the entire team provides support.
