FC Tokyo is promoting environmental initiatives as an important theme in club management to realize the club’s social statement, "Goals that connect to the future of our lives."

TOKYO SUSTAINABILITY STRATEGY

Introduction

"Goals Connected to the Future of Our Lives"

We advance our environmental initiatives because we believe environmental issues are deeply connected to the club’s activities themselves and are essential prerequisites that affect people’s lives, the sustainability of the community, and the future of the next generation. Football is a gathering place for many people to share emotions and is deeply connected to the community. We believe the club has the responsibility to protect that value and pass it on to the future.

FC Tokyo aims to be a club that grows together with its hometown, Tokyo, guided by the sentiments expressed in its social statement: "Goals that connect to the future of our lives," "A city filled with more positive energy," "A city embraced by warmer support," and "A city blessed with cleaner air and nature." Environmental initiatives are an important pillar for realizing this social statement and are positioned as contributing to the club’s medium- to long-term value creation.

Climate change is having a tangible impact on sports venues and club management. We view this not as a temporary risk but as a structural issue that must be integrated into management decisions, positioning environmental considerations at the core of sports business decision-making. FC Tokyo supports the principles of the 'Sports for Climate Action Framework' and 'Sport Positive Leagues (SPL)' and, in coordination with international frameworks, is committed to reducing environmental impact and creating positive social outcomes. Through these efforts, we commit to visualizing the impact of the club’s activities on the local community and society and to continuously making improvements.

This sustainability strategy is both a declaration and the start of action.

Together with fans, supporters, partners, local governments, and community members, we will keep our eyes on goals that connect to the future of our lives and continue to take responsible actions.

Policy

FC Tokyo aims to be a club continuously loved by fans, supporters, partners, local governments, and the community.
Starting from our hometown Tokyo, we will harness the power of sports centered on football to create empathy, lead to broader actions, and contribute to the realization of a sustainable society together with many more people.

⓵ We will operate the club in harmony with the environment, ② empathize with the feelings of local residents, municipalities, and partner companies, and ③ focus on awareness activities that encourage behavior change among fans, supporters, and their families, aiming to achieve the club’s goals for 2035.

Goals

We will work on carbon neutrality, 100% resource circulation, and nature positivity.
By steadily promoting these activities, we will establish our position as a leading Japanese club recognized worldwide in the field of sustainability by 2035.

Four Environmental Policies

Climate Positive

Climate Positive Policy CLIMATE POSITIVE POLICY
We aim for a climate-positive society and strive to manage the club and take on new business model challenges together with fans, supporters, partners, municipalities, and the local community.

Transportation Guideline
We aim to realize transportation suitable for a climate-positive society.
The movement of club staff and teams is basically based on low-carbon transportation such as public transportation and team buses.

  • We create an environment where fans and supporters choose low-carbon attendance through public transportation and the like.
  • We support the decarbonization efforts of transportation operators that facilitate access to the stadium.

100% Resource Circulation

100% Resource Circulation Policy CIRCULAR DESIGN POLICY
We prioritize waste reduction regarding resources (raw materials, water, etc.) used and waste generated in our business activities, and circulate the value of resources as much as possible through promoting reuse and recycling. To achieve this, we aim to realize a 100% resource circulation society by cooperating with stakeholders such as fans and supporters, partners, local governments, communities, business partners, and waste disposal companies.

No Single Use Plastic Guideline
In accordance with the 100% Circular Resource Policy, we strive to reduce single-use plastics. The scope covers single-use plastics directly involved in and manageable within our business activities.

Nature Positive

Nature Positive Policy
A match environment that enhances the health and safety of players, fans and supporters, club staff, and the quality of the competition.
Behind the continuation of FC Tokyo’s activities in daily life are clean air and water, the blessings of the four seasons, and the urban nature where living creatures thrive. To connect the lives of our hometown Tokyo to the future, we act based on the concept of Nature Positive, aiming for a city where people and nature coexist.

Water Stewardship Guideline WATER STEWARDSHIP GUIDELINE
Drinking water that supports the health of players and fans/supporters, the turf where players perform, and the infrastructure that supports daily life are all sustained by the water cycle. We collaborate to maintain a healthy water cycle* and enhance its resilience.
*Healthy water cycle: A state where the use of water and land is consistent with the natural rates of regeneration, infiltration, and storage.

Sustainable Procurement

Sustainable Procurement Policy SUPPLY CHAIN POLICY
Based on our "Sustainability Strategy," we will continue to stably provide match environments and services that fans and supporters can enjoy with peace of mind, together with our business partners.

Ensuring Quality, Safety, and Stable Supply
We verify the specifications and supply system of procured items and establish a mechanism to provide them stably.
