□Comment from Yuichi MARUYAMA
“I will be transferring to Nagoya Grampus this time.
I am very sorry to leave the team in the middle of the season. Considering the possibility of winning, this transfer was a very difficult decision.
Looking back over the past six months, while the team was doing well, I was deeply troubled by whether I could continue as I was, feeling anxiety and uncertainty. After much reflection and struggle, I decided to take on a new challenge in a new environment because I wanted to grow further as a player.
I began my professional career in Tokyo and was able to play as a player in Tokyo for nine and a half years, including time in Tokyo’s academy. I had the opportunity to play at Ajinomoto Stadium and gained many valuable experiences.
I believe I am who I am today thanks to the directors, staff, players, and everyone involved with me up until now.
Whether the team was doing well or poorly, whether at Ajinomoto Stadium or even at distant away games, I can only express my gratitude to all the fans and supporters who have cheered me on with passionate support and encouragement.
I will no longer be Yuichi Maruyama of FC Tokyo, but I will do my best to show my growth. Thank you for nine and a half years.”
